Search Engine Positioning & Research
HydraMedia specializes in a number of Web positioning technologies.

Search Engine Positioning is an often-overlooked area of Web based marketing that can produce tremendous results when tackled in proper fashion. HydraMedia has been working in the realm of SE positioning and associated technologies for over five years and has the understanding, methodologies, and process to help maximize this marketing channel.

In addition to a number of proprietary technologies and processes, HydraMedia uses several proven techniques to help maximize a given Web site's content for the major search engines.
Benefits of Search Engine Positioning
The online search is an invaluable tool for Internet users, and one that is taken full advantage of. The volume of traffic which search engines generate is immense, which puts high SE rankings at a premium.

To understand why SE positioning is so important, one needs to look no further than these relevant Internet statistics:

• 75% of Web users use search engines.

• Searching is the second-most popular online activity
(checking email is first), as 57% of users search the
  Web every day.

• Half of Web users spend 70% or more of their time
  searching.

• Internet users ranked search as their most important
activity, rating it 9.1 on a 10 point scale.

Major SE's and directories individually attract anywhere between 0.7% to 53.4% of Internet users.*
* Major engines and directories include All the Web, Alta Vista, Excite, Hotbot, Looksmart, Web Crawler, Infoseek/Go, Lycos, What-U-Seek, MSN, AOL Search, Google, Northern Light, Open Directory, and Yahoo!

These numbers show the importance of catering a site to online searches and to SE's. Search engine positioning is the most cost-effective and efficient solution to the problem of satisfying queries of potential clients.

Search engine positioning involves extensive hands-on site maintenance by HydraMedia. Our positioning service targets major engines and directories, since the vast majority of web traffic is referred through these listings. Each search engine has its own unique criteria for ranking sites. HMC optimizes a site for each engine based on extensive research and updates on the latest changes in indexing practices. Integrating particular keywords within unique "doorway" pages (a variation of a page on the existing site, but slightly altered to reflect the best potential for high rankings), we can submit as many as 120+ pages that have been optimized for specific engine listings.

The most important part of our positioning service is site maintenance. After submitting the unique doorway pages, HMC proceeds to run weekly ranking reports to ensure that the site is achieving effective rankings and maintaining them. If the site is not receiving satisfactory exposure for a particular keyword, TrafficSeek will revise and resubmit the doorway page for that word and search engine. It is not uncommon for engines to drop sites from their listings, due to changes in ranking algorithms or sometimes even internal computer errors. HMC's maintenance also covers any such sudden drops and any pages that have disappeared will be resubmitted. In addition, we make submission and monthly ranking reports available for our clients' perusal, so they can stay up-to-date with their site's status.

Working with Dynamic Data
When it comes to search engine positioning, the indexing of dynamic content has long been a hang up for large scale and eCommerce sites trying to increase their online exposure. Most search engines refuse to index sites with dynamic content for fear of having their spiders caught while being fed endless streams of URL's. For this reason, symbols such as "?," "&," "%" and references to the CGI Bin are considered stop characters, which keep spiders from indexing the pages which use them.

HydraMedia has faced this challenge head-on in the past. Based on careful research and its own experiences in the realm of search engine positioning, HMC developed a unique and innovative solution to the problem of getting the content on dynamic pages spidered and ranked by search engines.

This solution clears a major hurdle that has stood in the way of eTailers and Webmasters whose sites store massive amounts of content in dynamically generated pages. Until now, any hope of these pages appearing within search engine listings has been minimal. HydraMedia presents this important piece of the dynamic indexing puzzle as another example of its continuing effort to satisfy client marketing and development needs through the exploration of new avenues, discovery of new answers, and refinement of its products.
